Applications are invited, in the
prescribed proforma (in A4 size paper), from eligible candidates for engagement
as Apprentice under the Apprentices Act, 1961 in the under mentioned designated
trades for the year 2008-09. The requirement given below is tentative and
subject to change:

Note:- 3%
of the vacancies are reserved for Physically handicapped candidates (except
visually handicapped) in the trades identified for them as per the Apprentices
Act.
2.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:
2.1 Age
Limits : The age as on 01/01/2009 should be 15-20 years for Freshers
and 15-22 years in the case of Ex-ITI candidates . The dates between which the candidates should have been born to
be eligible is shown below:

2.2 Minimum Educational Qualification:

Should have passed standard X under 10
+ 2 system or an equivalent examination and also possess National Trade certificate in the notified trade
issued by the National Council for Vocational Training. |

For the trade of Electrician |
Should have passed Std X with science
as one of the Subjects, under the 10 + 2 system or an equivalent examination
and should also possess National Trade Certificate in the notified trade
issued by National Council for Vocational Training. |
Freshers |

* Preference will be given to candidates who have passed Std. X under the
X + 2 system.
3. HOW
TO APPLY
3.1
Format: Applications
must be submitted only in the prescribed format (strictly in A4 size paper).
This can be downloaded from the website : www.icf.gov.in.
The choice of Ex-ITI/ Fresher
is to be indicated on the top of the application.
One
passport size photo should be pasted in the application in the space provided
duly signed by the candidate.
3.2 Enclosures:
i)
Fees : A “Postal Order” or
“Demand Draft” of Rs.40/- (Rupees Forty only) shall be drawn in favour of the "FA&CAO/ICF" payable at “Chennai” and be attached to the application form. SC/ST/PH candidates are exempt from any
fees. Other forms of fees such as Money Order/ Cheque etc. will not be
entertained.
ii)
Certificates: Copies of following certificates/documents duly attested by a Gazetted
Officer should be enclosed with the application,
(a) For Age
certification: Birth certificate or Transfer Certificate (for Std.VIII
& IX) or Std X Mark Sheet (for Std X and above).
(b) For Educational/ Technical

Mere
completion of a course is not sufficient.
Candidates must be in possession of the
necessary certificate confirming passing in the course as on the date of the
notification. Original certificates should not be enclosed with the
application.
(c) For Community
certification: For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC communities, copy of
community certificate in the format prescribed by the Central Government .
(d) For the
Physically Handicapped Candidates: Disability Certificate issued by the
Medical Board attached to the Special Employment Exchanges or a local Civil
Surgeon where such medical board has not been constituted.
3.3 Submission
of application: Application in the prescribed format should be sent in a cover
superscribed as "Application for
Apprenticeship” and sent by ordinary
post to

Candidates can also drop their applications in the box provided for this purpose at Welfare Centre/Shell Division/ICF.
3.4 LAST DATE: The last
date of submission of the application is 23.08.2008 @ 12:30 hrs. This
Administration is not responsible for any postal delay.
3.5 FORM OF APPLICATION:
Applications submitted in any format, other than the one provided by this
Administration will not be entertained. Incomplete and unclear applications NOT
in conformity with any of the conditions of this notification will be summarily
rejected.
4. MODE OF SELECTION:

4.2 Publication of the list: The following lists will
be published at Welfare Centre, Shell & Furnishing Divisions in ICF on the
dates indicated:

The
above list will also be available in the ICF website. Candidates may verify the list at Sl. No.1 and report
discrepancy, if any, on or before 02/09/08.
4.3 Standard of Physical Fitness: The candidate should be physically fit as per the
conditions applicable under the Apprentices Act- 1961. Selected candidates should produce a Medical
Certificate in the prescribed form as laid down in the Apprentices Act, 1961
(available in the web site) before admission for training as Apprentices.
5 TRAINING:
5.1 Period

i. In respect of Freshers, no request for change of trade after selection will be entertained, and in respect of Ex-ITI quota, they will be trained in the trade in which they are in possession of ITI certificate.
ii. Candidates selected for training will not be
allowed to withdraw from training except for reasons, which are beyond their
control. Before commencement of the training, the candidates have to execute a
contract of Apprenticeship.
iii. Those who willfully absent themselves are
liable to refund the whole cost of their training as well as the amount paid as stipend as determined by the
Central Apprenticeship Adviser.
5.2 Rate of stipend :

During the 3rd year of training :

During the 4th year of training :

The period of training undergone in the ITI shall
be taken into account for the purpose of determining the rate of stipend
payable, which will be the same, as above. |
6. OTHER CONDITIONS:
i)
It should be noted that the selection and training
are strictly in compliance with the provisions of Apprentice Act,1961 and NO EMPLOYMENT IS PROVIDED TO THE APPRENTICES ON COMPLETION OF THEIR
TRAINING.
ii)
The selected candidates should abide by the rules
and regulations framed by the Administration from time to time.
iii)
If any declaration furnished by the candidate is not
found to be true, he/she will be disqualified/terminated when the same is
detected either during the selection or after engagement.
